Description[]
It's no secret that Valerie Bertinelli loves lemon, but Duff Goldman's favorite ingredient is revealed in this season's kick-off challenge -- bacon cupcakes! Each of the 12 young bakers must make a cupcake featuring bacon and an assigned ingredient like maple, chocolate or cherry.[1]
Summary[]
In honor of Duff's favorite food, bacon, the bakers had to make bacon cupcakes with another assigned ingredient. The twist was they had to incorporate Valerie's second-favorite food, marzipan. [2]
Full Plot[]
For the first episode of the season, the bakers had to grab a bacon strip off of the tree and that would tell them which ingredient to use in their bacon cupcakes. They were given: chocolate (Nyah), ginger (Davis), marshmallow (Madison), coffee (Jenna), cherry (Karthik), pecan (Brooklyn), cinnamon (Paige), peanut (Meadow), peach (Jaxon), maple (Misha), caramel (Gavin), and cream cheese (Kasey). Meadow won the challenge with her vanilla cupcakes with peanut butter bacon frosting. Kasey got eliminated with his vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and bacon.
