"Throwback Eclairs" is the fifth episode of Season 3 of Kids Baking Championship and the 17th overall.[1] It first aired on January 30th, 2017.[2]

Description[]
What were desserts like when hosts Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman were kids? The remaining eight bakers must update old school desserts like coconut cream pie or German chocolate cake into trendy "throwback" eclairs.[3]
Summary[]
The kids are challenged to make eclairs based on old desserts: Coconut Cream Pie (Cole), Black Forest Cake (Justice) German Chocolate Cake (Maya), Chocolate Pecan Pie (Audra), Pineapple Upside Down Cake (Reese), Cherry Cheesecake (Kaniyah), Banana Cream Pie (Aidan) and Grandmas Apple Pie (Jason). A twist comes in when the kids must make something with dried fruit.
Full Plot[]
To represent Black Forest Cake, Justice made eclairs filled with chocolate cherry whipped cream topped with a chocolate apricot ganache. To represent German Chocolate Cake, Maya made eclairs filled with chocolate pastry cream and topped with dates.
